Pearl Street Mall
Located on the Broadway Street, Pearl Street Mall is a four block public mall and a great shopping destination for visitors. The mall was constructed in 1976 and opened its gates to public in 1977. It was designed by Everett Ziegel Associates, CommArts Inc. and Massachusetts based Sasaki Associates. Pearl Street Mall is home of a lot of locally owned businesses, stores and restaurants. It also provides a stage for various events, street performers and musicians.
Flagstaff Mountain is a famous mountain located on the west of Boulder providing some spectacular views of the city. This area is operated by the Boulder Mountain Parks Division and the trails here are used by hikers, horseback riders, dog walkers and bicyclists. This mountain is one of the most famous areas for rock climbing in the whole city.
The Mesa Laboratory of the National Center for Atmospheric Research is a research center designed by architect I.M. Pei during 1961 to 1967. It is located at Table Mesa Dr in Boulder and remains open for the public everyday. It features a lot of exhibits, public tours and custom school field trips so that people and children can increase their awareness about the atmosphere. The admission and parking is totally free here.
University of Colorado Museum of Natural History
University of Colorado Museum of Natural History is a museum featuring five exhibition halls representing anthropology, botany, entomology, geology and zoology. The museum is located on the University of Colorado campus and easily accessible by buses, taxis and cabs. There is also the museum gift shop which offers pottery, rugs, toys and kits for children and some fine jewelry.
The museum remains open everyday and admission is free but donations are appreciated by the museum which is $3 for adults and $1 for children and senior citizen. The museum holds a lot of adult educational programs and activities everyday including lectures, workshops and guided tours for children.
