Pune is considered as the cultural capital of Maharashtra. It is also the second largest state. In the ancient period, the city was the home of the Maratha leader ‘Shivaji Maharaj’.  Pune has been famous for almost everything possible in India. It consists of numerous educational institutions and is also considered as ‘The Oxford of the East’. It is also becoming the raging famous spot for the IT companies to establish their branches and business.

Pune is beautiful on its own. It has various beautiful destinations and hill stations that a person wouldn’t ever get enough of it. Pune is recognized for its colorful nightlife for the youth culture such as rock bands, concerts, gigs etc. which has an effervescent ambiance to itself which is unique on its own. Pune is considered as ‘The queen of the Deccan’ because of the presence hill stations in Pune. Due to its glorious historical facts and incidences Pune was earlier known as Punya-Vishaya, later on as the British ruled over India they changed the name to Poona and from the past few years it is recognized as Pune by everyone.

As Pune being a pleasing beauty and with an interesting story behind its future it also has famous tourist places to have a look. Places like Aga Khan Palace, Osho Ashram, Panshet Water Park, Dagadusheth Halwai Ganpati temple, Hinjawadi, Magarpatta, Omkareshwar Temple, Shaniwar Wada and lots of other attraction spots.

Pune is a travel destination and is famous again for being the richest state in India and has most number of houses of the famous people from Bollywood which is the Hindi Indian Film Industry.
Some destinations in Pune are worth visiting and should be visited if you step into Pune. These places depict the history of the ancient city and teach a lot about the ancient times spent by the famous people who lived in here and made a mark.

Aga Khan Palace

Aga Khan Palace was established in the year 1892 by Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan |||. Since that time it is the biggest and the most famous landmark in the History of India. The palace was built under the consideration of charity as the king better known as Sultan wanted to do charity by helping the poor people in the nearby neighboring areas as they were badly affected and destroyed because of Famine crisis. The people in the nearby areas were helped very efficiently by the Sultan. The palace was later donated to India.

kasturba samadhi

Kasturba Samadhi is situated inside the Aga Khan Palace in Pune itself. IT is popularly known as Kasturba Gandhi Memorial as it was the place where Mahatma Gandhi’s wife took here very last breath. The memorial is made of exquisite white marbles and is a sheer beauty to be witnessed.


Osho ashram is also known as the Osho Commune International center. It is recognized as the most famous meditation resort all across and reflects the meditation qualities of a Buddha devotee. It is a place where your mind, body and soul can be relaxed. This is an ashram which helps in enhancing your personality and helps your to acquire inner peace.


This fort is famous worldwide as the birth place of one the ruler of Maharashtra, Shivaji. Shivaji has spent most of his childhood taking lessons on military training. Shivneri fort is located approximately 105 km away from Pune.

saras bagh

Saras bagh is the garden situated in Pune and is considered as one of the well maintained gardens. It is a location for devotional and popular place to laze around for all the residents of the Pune city.

empress garden

Adjacent to the Sholapur road, the largest garden in Pune which is The Empress garden is situated. This garden is basically a Botanical park which is located near the Pune race course. There are numerous variety of fruits and flower bearing trees.


This temple is an ancient one since the 17th century. This temple is of Parvati who is the wife of Lord Shiva and is known for its endurance and stability during the floods in 1962. This temple of Omkareshwar is known for its extraordinary carvings and construction which has an extravagant style factor to it.


As the name suggests this temple is located across the river on Jungli Maharaj Road as it is a heritage location for Pune and its existence is long since 8th century AD. The temple is very much similar to the rock cave temple in Ellora caves.

The tourist places which exist nearby Pune are Matheran, Khandala, Panchgani, Malshej Ghat, Mahabaleshwar and Lonavala. These are the destinations which are known for its hill station qualities and a family outing. The climatic conditions are always pleasant and make a trip to be remembered for all of them who visit them. The various other tourist destinations in Pune but these were some the ancient and devotional ones which would enlighten your soul, mind and body. Quick refreshment far away from the normal city life though Pune being a city itself but it provides the pleasure of a calm peaceful life.
